In Memory of Thomas A. Derr

The Malt Beverage Distributors Association (MBDA) mourns the loss of Thomas A. Derr, a dedicated leader, passionate advocate, and cherished friend, who passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Tom was more than just the owner of West Lawn Beverage—he was a pillar of our industry. Since 1990, he served as a Director of MBDA with unwavering commitment, always advocating for fairness, modernization, and the needs of fellow distributors. His efforts to expand consumer access to 6- and 12-packs helped shape the landscape of beer distribution in Pennsylvania.

Through West Lawn Beverage, he brought joy to generations—whether by sharing his famous roasted peanuts, offering a kind word, or handing out Tootsie Rolls to kids tagging along with their parents. His warm presence and signature sense of humor made a lasting impact on everyone he met.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his kindness and dedication. Tom will be remembered with great affection and appreciation by the entire MBDA community.

In his honor, his family suggests contributions may be made to the Malt Beverage Distributors Association of Pennsylvania.

Rest in peace, Tom. Your legacy lives on.
